VERNON, SALONA H. SALTVILLE, VA. - Mrs. Salona Henderson Vernon, age 81,
died in the Johnston Memorial Hospital Saturday afternoon. She was a member of
Madam Russell United Methodist Church, a member of Martha Bennett's Sunday
School Class and the Willing Workers Circle. Mrs. Vernon was a charter member
of Saltville Chapter 151, OES, a charter member of the Home Extension Club, a
member of the Four Seasons Garden Club, and a member of the Saltville Senior
Citizens. Surviving are her husband, Joseph W. Vernon, Saltville, Va.; one
daughter, Patsy V. Smith, Saltville, Va.; two sisters, Mrs. Mark Farris,
Abingdon, Va.; Mrs. Roby Gillenwater, Saltville, Va.; two grandsons, Barry
Loupe, Michael Smith, both of Saltville, Va.; one great-grandson, Jordon
Loupe, Saltville, Va. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday
at the Madam Russell United Methodist Church with the Rev. Lee Roy Snapp and
Rev. Benny Frye officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Rose Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the D. R. Henderson Funeral Home Monday
evening from 7:00 to 9:00.
