BUSH'S FAA NOMINEE WITHDRAWS AFTER CRITICISM

President Bush's controversial choice to head the Federal Aviation Administration has asked Bush to withdraw the nomination.

Jerry Curry, head of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, came under fire from both consumer groups and former FAA chief James Busey after Bush nominated him in November.

Curry, a black conservative, will be offered another job in government, Bush administration sources said Saturday. Transportation Secretary Andrew Card said in a statement that Curry "continues as a valued member of the president's team." - Associated Press
