SHOWALTER BREAKS ROANOKE TRACK RECORDS

Former Christiansburg runner Cathie Showalter set two Roanoke College records Saturday in the Washington and Lee Track and Field Invitational.

Showalter won the 5,000-meter race in 19 minutes, 21.2 seconds and placed first in the 3,000 in 11:01.8. Both are school records.

Also for Roanoke, Patricia Alonso took fifth in the 1,500 and fifth in the 3,000.

In men's competition, Jason Cording placed third in the 110 hurdles, and Bryant Lee took sixth in the triple jump. - Staff report
