HOW DOES COUNTY FARE IN HIRING?

JOEL TURNER wrote about the affirmative-action report by City Manager Bob Herbert, which showed the percentage of black employees in the Roanoke city work force, and the percentage of black employees promoted in the past year.

It would be interesting if Roanoke County released its report. I suspect the percentage would be much lower, and I'm not aware of Roanoke County's efforts to recruit or promote blacks. HELEN M. PRICE ROANOKE
