Seventy percent of U.S. aid funds are spent domestically on U.S. exports and equipment, creating jobs for U.S. citizens. In addition, U.S. aid fosters the Third World's dependency on U.S. products, providing markets for American exports while assuring a continual flow of inexpensive raw materials and agricultural products from the Third World.
Ultimately, for every dollar spent on U.S. foreign aid, $3 is pumped into the U.S. economy. Although the program does little to alleviate the poverty of those in emerging nations, it contributes much to the U.S. economy and the quality of life for the U.S. citizen.
