CALLAWAY - John Robert Sloan, Jr., age 72 of Callaway, died Monday, March 23, 1992. He was retired from Harris Hardwood. Surviving are his wife, Nadine Nichols Sloan; five sons and three daughters-in-law, Ronald and Sarah Sloan, Callaway; Roger and Lynna Sloan, Roanoke; Johnny Sloan, Salem; Eric and Rhonda Sloan, Boones Mill; Joey Sloan, Callaway; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Wanda S. Hodges, Callaway; Judy and Ray Parker, Roseboro, N.C.; Luci Sloan, Vinton; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Susie Matheney, Callaway; Loua Harden, Princeton, W.Va.; and one brother, William Sloan, Roanoke. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, March 25, at 11:00 a.m. at the Arrington Bussey Chapel by the Rev. Frank B. Layman, Jr., and the Rev. Robert Snyder. Interment will follow in the Monta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Arrington Bussey Funeral Home.
