BLACKSBURG PROGRAM AIMED AT RETIREES FEATURED IN MAGAZINE

Retire Blacksburg - the cooperative effort between town government, the chamber of commerce and local business to lure more retirees to the town - was featured in the March issue of Virginia Town & City, the magazine of the Virginia Municipal League.

An article written by Bonnie Svrcek, assistant town manager, describes an an aggressive marketing campaign the town launched in 1983 directed at retirees.

Blacksburg's future as a retirement community looks bright, Svrcek concluded. She pointed as evidence to Money magazine's recent listing of the town as one of the top 10 retirement places in the country for the coming decade.
