SCHOOL CENSUS UNDER WAY IN VA.

All school divisions in Virginia, including Montgomery County Public Schools, are conducting the triennial school census, which is mandated by law. The census determines how sales tax funds are returned to localities.

School census takers will count all children 1-19 years old, and all children 2-21 years old with disabilities. Parents will be asked to identify the name, age and sex of every child in the family as well as those with disabilites.

The school census takers will have identification badges and a letter from the superintendent for identification purposes. Since the school division's funding is directly related to the thoroughness of the census, citizens are urged to cooperate.

For more information on the survey, call Judith Rutherford at the School Board office, 382-5100.
