RUSSELL CHAMBER NAMES TOP CITIZEN

Harry "Budge" Rutherford of Honaker has been named the Russell County Chamber of Commerce citizen of the year for his work in expanding the local jobs market.

Rutherford has been chairman of the region's Private Industry Council since it started in 1983. He has served on the Russell County Industrial Development Authority since 1980. He was chairman of the Coalfield Economic Development Authority's site selection committee to create a shell building in Honaker.

A 1965 Roanoke College graduate, Rutherford has been owner and operator of Modern Chevrolet in Honaker for more than 20 years. He also serves on many other civic and volunteer organizations.
