QUEEN LATIFAH CANCELS LECTURE AT VIRGINIA TECH

A lecture by Queen Latifah, scheduled to be given tonight in Virginia Tech's Squires Student Center, has been cancelled.

The New Jersey rap singer cancelled the lecture, scheduled for 7 p.m. in Squires' Colonial Hall, because of illness, said Kathy Cantrell, a Squires program coordinator. Latifah was to speak on the topic: "Rap in the Black Community."

Cash refunds for ticket holders will be given through Squires Ticket Office from Friday until the end of the academic year, Cantrell said. Ticket holders must bring their tickets for the lecture to the Squires office to receive a refund.

Cantrell and other Squires staffers will meet at Colonial Hall tonight to talk with any ticket holders who have questions about receiving refunds, she said.

Squires Ticket Office hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Monday-Friday.
