AUTHOR-COMMENTATOR TO GIVE VIRGINIA TECH TELECONFERENCE

Ellen Gilchrist, winner of the 1984 National Book Award and a former commentator on National Public Radio's "Morning Edition," will speak via teleconference with Virginia Tech students and faculty today.

The program will be presented in 267 Whittemore Hall, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The general public also may attend on a space-available basis.

Gilchrist will give a brief description of her experiences as a writer and then respond to questions. The program, broadcast from Richmond, is presented by the Virginia Center for the Book, an affiliate of the Virginia State Library and Archives.
