CIA RETHINKING PLANS FOR W.VA. COMPOUND

The CIA is reconsidering plans to build a huge compound in West Virginia.

In a letter sent Monday to members of Congress who oversee the spy agency, CIA Director Robert Gates said he is re-examining a decision to move 3,000 workers from Northern Virginia to Jefferson County, W.Va. The CIA will review three sites in Prince William and Loudoun counties as alternatives, he said.

A review by the CIA's inspector general last month said three other sites were better suited for the project on technical merits. - Associated Press
