RICHMOND - Gov. Douglas Wilder on Tuesday signed into law a bill creating a special fund to aid businesses interested in locating or expanding in Virginia.

Wilder and other state officials called the $4.5 million account to be opened July 1 a "deal closing" fund, available at the governor's discretion to pay for access roads or site development costs to sew up specific deals with new or growing companies. - Staff report

Henry OKs bonds for packaging plant

MARTINSVILLE - The Henry County Board of Supervisors has approved $1.1 million in industrial revenue bonds for a corrugated packaging insert company's plant.

Multi-Wall Packaging Corp., a subsidiary of Real Reel Corp. of East Providence, R.I., has started construction of a 45,000-square-foot building in Beaver Creek Industrial Park. Twenty-five to 30 employees will be trained initially and the company said it expects to double that work force eventually. - Staff report
