The businesses are expected to continue as Transmissions AAmerica, said Richard Sayers, attorney for owner John Dilauro.
A spokesman with AAMCO in Bala-Cynwyd, Pa., would not say why the relationship was severed, except that it had to do with "contractual disagreements."
"I have no comment on our relationship with these folks," said Mike Pekula, director of consumer affairs with AAMCO.
Dilauro said his shops, on Williamson Road Northwest and Franklin Road Southwest, will continue to honor AAMCO warranties they issued.
If that does not happen, however, Pekula said AAMCO will make arrangements to have other Roanoke transmission shops honor warranties issued by Dilauro as an AAMCO shop. He said warranty holders from any franchise can be directed to a repair shop by calling the toll-free number (1-800-523-0401) on the warranty receipt.
Pekula said there are 670 AAMCO centers, including shops in Blacksburg and Lynchburg. - Staff report
