\ UNITY OF ROANOKE VALLEY will present a seminar, "Taking Charge of Your Life," April 5 at 3300 Green Ridge Road. It will be led by Joyce Duco, author of several books on self-improvement and the subject of a 1972 TV show, "The Weekend Nun," will lead the seminar. Duco also will speak at the 9 and 11 a.m. services the day of the seminar.
The seminar costs $20 and will be from 1:30 to 5 p.m.
\ BRUCE PENN, is the new manager of Baptist Book Store on Williamson Road. He was transferred from a similar position in St. Louis. The native of Georgia was reared in Anderson, S.C., and graduated from Western Carolina University. He worked for Walt Disney World before joining the network of stores eight years ago.
Penn succeeds Ted Powitz, who has managed the Roanoke store since 1985 and has moved to management of the Richmond store.
\ GREATER ROANOKE INDOOR CAMP MEETING, an evangelistic series sponsored by Churches of the Nazarene in the Roanoke Valley and surrounding counties, will begin April 8 at First Church, 728 Highland Ave. S.E. The Rev. Nelson Perdue, a national denominational evangelist from Urbana, Ohio, will lead the 7 p.m. nightly services through April 11. Perdue also will preach on the concluding Sunday night at 6. A nursery will be staffed.
\ MOMS IN TOUCH, an organization in which women meet for an hour weekly to pray for their children and the schools they attend, is compiling a directory of such groups in the Roanoke Valley. For more information, call Bettye DeBerry at 366-8123.
\ THREE LENTEN LUNCHEONS are scheduled April 1, 8 and 15 at Huntington Court United Methodist Church, Williamson Road at Huntington Boulevard. Those attending are asked to bring a financial gift to help relieve Roanoke Valley hunger.
The meals, to be served by three different parish groups, will follow services that start at noon. Speakers on the successive Wednesdays will be the Rev. Gregory Atkins of Raleigh Court United Methodist, the Rev. Emory Tarpley of Grace United Methodist and the Rev. John Sylvester-Johnson of the St. John's Episcopal staff.
