The Mental Health Association of Roanoke Valley is accepting applications for a $500 scholarship to be awarded to a student who will attend an institution of higher education for the 1992-93 academic year.
Application forms and additional information about scholarship criteria may be obtained by calling the Mental Health Association office at 344-0931. The deadline to apply is Wednesday.
\ Volunteers needed at pregnancy center
The Crisis Pregnancy Center of Roanoke Valley, a Christian organization that offers alternatives to abortion, needs volunteers to serve as receptionists, in-office counselors and home hot-line counselors.
Training sessions will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays, April 7-28, from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Those interested are asked to call the center at 362-3007 or 362-9492 by Tuesday to apply. The center is at 2724-B Liberty Road N.W.\ Junior Woman's Club to hold diaper drive
The Brambleton Junior Woman's Club will hold a diaper-collecting drive April 6-12 for the Roanoke City Rescue Mission.
The Wal-Mart stores in Salem and on U.S. 220 will serve as collection points at the following times: April 7-8, 9:30-11:30 a.m.; April 11, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.; and April 12, 2-4 p.m.
