The Bradley Free Clinic recently honored its professional and lay volunteers at its annual awards dinner.

E. Hildreth Cassell Jr., Jacquelyn Carmack and J. Michael Williams received the David Newman Award for volunteer excellence.

The Helen Van Rensselaer Award for philanthropy went to Dr. and Mrs. Gary Yates of Phoenix, Ariz.; Horace and Ann Fralin; and the law firm of Woods, Rogers & Hazlegrove.

A new award was established this year to identify the volunteer whose continuing commitment best exemplifies the clinic's mission. Clinic pharmacist David Newman was named the first Volunteer of the Year.

Sixty-eight of the clinic's volunteers received Extra Mile awards, and 14 received Shining Star awards in recognition of their volunteer commitment.
