The 25-stall market, at West Main and Broad streets, will be available for vendors of home-grown foods, greenery and flowers from throughout Southwest Virginia. The market will not offer flea market-type crafts.
Debbie Sinex, horticulturist for the city of Salem, said vendors interested in renting stalls can call her during business hours at 375-4004.
The market will operate from 6 a.m. until dark Monday through Saturday.
An official opening ceremony is planned for later this spring to commemorate extensive upgrading of the market last year.
Salem spent about $85,000 to install permanent toilets at the market site, to build shelters and display tables, and to pave and landscape the area.
