Ninety-two inpatients and outpatients of the Salem Veterans Affairs Medical Center entered their work in Elks Club 197's 19th Arts and Crafts Contest and Exhibit.
Two Roanoke men, David M. Hartman and Samuel Jenks, took best-in-show grand prizes - Hartman for his original woodwork and Jenks for his numbered paintings.
Many of the more than 300 items entered in the show were crafted in the center's occupational therapy and special activities programs.
