HOOVER, LAWRENCE J.

Lawrence J. Hoover, age 72, died Thursday in Veterans Hospital, Salem. He was a retired member of Iron Workers Local Union 697 and received a 45 year membership pin. He was Past President of Craig County Wildlife Association, a member of the Masonic Lodge and a member of First United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by a brother, Harvey Hoover. He is survived by his wife, Ruth A. Hoover; one daughter, Barbara A. Hoover-Bergey, Chesapeake; one son, Sr. M. Sgt. Barry Wayne Hoover, Hampton Roads; five sisters, Mrs. Carl Clark, Parma, Mo.; Florence Graham, Linton, Ind.; Ella Wartbaugh, Oblong, Ill.; Edith Rice, Flat Rock, Ill.; Naoma Capell, Charlotte, N.C.; two brothers, Garland Hoover, Flat Rock, Ill.; Curtis E. Hoover, Matlacha, Fla.; three grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at New Castle United Methodist Church with interment in Huffman Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Boitnott Funeral Home Saturday 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and request that contributions be made to Craig County Rescue Squad in lieu of flowers.
