BROWN, MARY E.

Mary Elizabeth Alphin Brown, age 83, widow of Nelson L. Brown, died Thursday, March 26, 1992 in Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was born February 7, 1909 in Botetourt County and was the daughter of the late George W. and Hettie Sizer Alphin. She was a member of Falling Spring Presbyterian Church, the Virginia Frontier Chapter of Daughters of American Revolution, Lexington Womens Club, Natural Bridge Garden Club, Colonial Dames VII Century (House of Burgesses Chapter). Surviving are one sister, Louise Alphin McGhee of Buchanan; four brothers, Dr. Guy L. Alphin and George Richard Alphin, both of Buchanan; Horace E. Alphin of Clifton, Va.; and Thurman S. Alphin of Hagerstown, Md. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. at Falling Spring Presbyterian Church. with the Rev. Fredrick F. Ritsch, III officiating. Burial will follow in Stonewall Jackson Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the Glasgow First Aid Crew or Falling Spring Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday at the Harrison Funeral Home, Lexington.
