Contestants perform two of either Bartok's or Kabalevsky's compositions, which range in difficulty. Cash prizes are awarded to the top three finishers in the following categories: kindergarten-grade 3, grades 4-6, grades 7-9, grades 10-12, college students to age 24 and adults over 24.
Gyorgy Sandor, a protege of Bartok and world-class pianist, will judge the competition. Salvatore Moltisanti, last year's winner on the adult level, will assist in judging.
Sandor will lecture in Powell Recital Hall on April 10 at 3 p.m. The lecture is free and open to the public. Moltisanti will present a solo recital that same night at 8 in Preston Auditorium. Sandor will play on April 12 at 2 p.m. in Preston Auditorium.
Admission for both recitals is Radford University I.D., free; $3 for the public; and $1 for children.
