School officials, however, said they could not release any information. Superintendent Robert McCracken said any matters dealing with school personnel or students are confidential.
School officials received several anonymous calls this week, according to the superintendent. The Roanoke Times & World-News received similar calls.
Any time an anonymous complaint is made, school officials make a direct inquiry to the principal, McCracken said. Jim Wheeler, elementary programs administrative assistant, will work with the principal in investigating the complaint when it involves an elementary school, McCracken said.
The inquiry or any action involving a teacher or pupil, however, remain confidential, he said. The only time information about a school employee would be made public, McCracken said, would be if the employee is transferred, is fired or resigns.
