THE SACRED AND THE PROFANE

THANK YOU for your editorial (March 24) entitled "The corruption in Carroll County."

It emphasized two very important points that most people often ignore: (1) that the Bible does teach values and morality and (2) that public school teachers have more freedom to introduce secular works into their classrooms than they have to introduce sacred ones.

And thank you, also, for your admonition against letting children read the books of I Samuel, I Kings, and II Kings.

You have done more to get our children to read the Old Testament than Ms. Goldwasser and Mr. Lineberry put together could have done.

Keep up the good work. TERESA IRVIN WYTHEVILLE
