JACKSON, BROOKS ARE INCOMPARABLE

AS A FAN of both Garth Brooks and Alan Jackson, I felt I must respond to Mark Morrison's article "A better bet," which, I assume, was an attempt to sing the well-deserved praises of Alan Jackson.

I might have been able to see the logic in comparing these two vastly different but equally talented artists if they had been, say, scheduled to perform at the same time on opposite sides of town. Fortunately for fans of both, that was not the case.

Why then did Mr. Morrison feel the need to resort to Garth-bashing? I feel certain Alan himself would much prefer to be judged based on his own talent and achievements and not by comparison, especially at another artist's expense. What does Brooks' talent (or, in Mark Morrison's opinion, lack thereof) have to do with Alan Jackson?

I can only hope that Mrs. Morrison knows better than to trust the grocery shopping to Mark. One day she just might get apples instead of oranges. CHERIE HALL CALLAWAY
