OBIT RUTHERFORD, E.

RUTHERFORD, ELSA C. Elsa Clara Mitchell Starling Rutherford, age 84 of Roanoke, died Friday in a Salem hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carleton (Jack) Rutherford. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Lee Arnold of Roanoke; a son, Charles Edward Starling of El Paso, Ark.; a stepson, Richard Rutherford of Ottawa, Canada; stepdaughter, Jackie Pires of Fall River, Mass.; sixteen grandchildren, several great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 29, at 2:00 p.m. at the Lotz Salem Chapel with the Rev. Tom C. Clay officiating. The body will be taken to the Smith & Williams Funeral Home in Virginia Beach where services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Lotz Salem Chapel is handling the arrangements.
