HIGHLANDERS SWEEP CAMPBELL IN BASEBALL

Radford won its Big South Conference baseball doubleheader against Campbell on Saturday.

The Highlanders (14-10 overall, 5-4 Big South) defeated the Fighting Camels 13-8 in the first game and 11-3 in the second.

In the first game, Radford took a 12-0 lead after four innings. Then Campbell (13-16-1, 4-5) staged a comeback.

The Camels scored eight runs in the fifth through seventh innings, but their efforts were too late.

Campbell scored two runs in the first two innings of the second game, but Radford then outscored the Camels 11-1.

The Highlanders had five runs in the seventh inning of the comeback victory. Duane Filchner was 3-for-4; Phillip Haney was 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBI; and Tim Heise was 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Campbell defeated Radford 18-11 in the continuation of Friday's suspended game. In the three-game weekend series, the teams combined for 64 runs.
