STUDENTS' ART GOES ON DISPLAY FRIDAY

Fifty-six works from 12 schools will be shown in the eighth annual Roanoke Area High School Art Exhibition at the Harrison Museum of African American Culture.

The show opens Friday at 6 p.m. There will be an awards ceremony at 6:30.

The show will remain at the museum through May 1.

Works in the show are by students at Salem, Glenvar, Blacksburg, Christiansburg, Lord Botetourt, Staunton River, James River, William Fleming, Cave Spring, Jefferson Forest and Patrick Henry High Schools and North Cross School.

A three-member jury selected the show from 450 slides of student work. The jurors were artist Betty Branch, architect Richard Meagher and art educator Leslie Willet of Hollins College.

The exhibition is sponsored by the City of Roanoke Art Commission.
