MORGAN, JANE E.

Miss Jane Elizabeth Morgan, age 88 of Giles Avenue, Dublin, passed away Saturday evening, March 28, 1992, in the Wytheville Community Hospital. Miss Morgan was a resident of Asbury Retirement Center in Wytheville for the past several years. Miss Morgan was born near Radford, Va., on October 31, 1903, and was the daughter of the late Edward and Elizabeth St. Clair Morgan. She attended the old Dublin Institute and Radford Teachers College. Miss Morgan taught for two years in the town of Snowville. She then entered nurse's training, and graduated from the Jefferson Hospital School of Nursing in 1926. She later entered the field of Fashion Merchandising in New York City, subsequently returning to Roanoke to work for Hancock's Fashions and Heironimus, where she established its first Personnel Department. At the outbreak of World War II, she joined the Army Nursing Corps and served hospitals in Paris and Belgium. After the end of the war, Miss Morgan worked for the Veteran's Administration in Martinsburg, West Virginia, until returning to Roanoke after her retirement in 1967. She is survived by the four nephews, William and Robert Dubley, Dublin; William D. Morgan, Wytheville; Jerry D. Morgan, Arlington, Texas; two nieces, Mary Jane Dudley, Dublin; Genevieve Morgan, Radford; and one sister-in-law, Mrs. E. H. Morgan, Radford. A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. from the Dublin United Methodist Church with the Rev. Henry Horton and Dr. Larry Ousley officiating. The family will receive friends after the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that memorials be made to the Holston Home for Children, Post Office Box 188, Greenville, Tenn. 37744-9982. Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski.
