Bernard W. Hodges, age 70 of Route 2, Rocky Mount, peacefully went home to be with the Lord Saturday, March 28, 1992. At the time of his death, which occurred at home, he was attended by his loving, faithful wife and children. He was born April 16, 1921, in Franklin County, the son of the late George Willie and Annie B. Hodges. He was retired from E. I. DuPont, and was a Naval veteran of World War II. He was a faithful member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church and a good neighbor to all. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Lewis Hodges, Terry Hodges and Dennis Hodges. His survivors are his wife, Marie Hodges; two daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Alan Mason, Lynchburg; Elizabeth and Donald Lazenby, Rocky Mount; one son and daughter-in-law, Buddy and Beth Hodges, Rocky Mount; five grandchildren, Tina Steele, wife of Jim Steele; Dwayne Mason; Josh Lazenby; Amy Lazenby; Aaron Mason; and one great-grandson, Ethan Steele. Other family members include one brother, Leonard Hodges, Staunton, Va.; four sisters, Evelyn Holcomb, Staunton; Ruth Merrimen, Fieldale, Va.; Hazel Brown, Rocky Mount; and Alice Haley, Colbert, Ga. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 31, 1992, at Bethlehem United Methodist Church with the Rev. Alan Mason officiating, assisted by the Rev. A. David Snead. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. Lynch Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements, where friends may visit after 3:00 p.m. Monday, March 30, and the family will be from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
