The Tigers had an 866 team total, and the Cavaliers had an 882, one shot ahead of third-place Wake Forest. East Tennessee State was fourth at 885, and Ohio State was fifth at 886.

Brian Sharp had the best score for Virginia Tech with a 72 for a 221 total. The freshman from Winston-Salem tied for 13th with defending champion and two-time All-American David Duval of Georgia Tech. Sharp's finish was his seventh in a row in the top 20.
