Lloyd Allen Dyson, Jr., age 64, of Salem, died Sunday. He was the chief engineer with WDBJ for 41 years and an honorary member of the Roanoke Valley Amateur Radio Club. He was the recipient of the D.X.C.C. Award and was a volunteer F.C.C. Examiner for Amateur Radio Licensing in the Roanoke Valley. He is survived by his wife, Betty S. Dyson; two daughters and son-in-law, Vicki Dyson, Tracy Dyson and Mark W. Thompson; son and daughter-in-law, Lloyd Allen, III and Kimberly H. Dyson; a granddaughter, Kelly F. Dyson; a sister, June Jordan, Richmond; a brother, William M. Dyson, Roanoke. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home Chapel, Salem, with the Rev. David B. Huff officiating. Interment will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
