MOROSO SUIT SETTLED

The family of a woman killed along with Rob Moroso when their cars collided has settled a lawsuit against the driver's estate, his racing team, General Motors and the restaurant where he was drinking before the accident.

Moroso, the 1989 NASCAR Grand National champion, had a blood-alcohol content of .22 - more than twice the level considered legally impaired in North Carolina - when he was killed in the Sept. 30, 1990, crash near his home on Lake Norman. Troopers estimated Moroso, 22, was driving more than 75 mph when he lost control on a curve and collided with the car of 27-year-old Tammy Williams of China Grove.

Williams' family will receive at least $400,000, possibly more, The Charlotte Observer reported in its Sunday editions. The settlement includes a ban on revealing damage amounts received from three of the four defendants.
