FLEA MARKET PROPOSED FOR EASTERN WYTHE

An outdoor flea market with 100 seller spaces may open early in May in eastern Wythe County.

It depends on whether the Board of Supervisors approves an amendment to the county peddlers' and itinerant merchants' ordinance which would allow up to 100 of them to do business at a single location, if the owner of the property has a valid merchant's license.

The board will hold a public hearing on the proposed amendment April 21 at 7 p.m.

The request came from James Damron, who hopes to open the Blue Ridge Flea Market three to five days each week, depending on interest. It would be on property next to the Ricky's C.B. City shop.
