Nearly 900 people have registered in the past two months, according to the city registrar's office.
Registrar Shelva Painter said Monday that her staff will have special locations and hours this week to make it more convenient to register.
The office will have have special registration hours Wednesday at the Williamson Road branch library from 5 to 8 p.m.
Thursday, residents can register at the Main Library and the Raleigh Court, Jackson Park and Melrose branches from 5 to 8 p.m.
Saturday, the last day to register for the May 5 election, the registrar's office in the city's old courthouse on Campbell Avenue will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Residents also may register at the libraries from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
Roanoke has 39,095 registered voters, but less than 50 percent usually vote in a council and mayoral election.
