HOSPICE VOLUNTEER TRAINING TO BEGIN

Volunteer training for Hospice Support Services Inc. of Wythe and Bland counties will start tonight from 7 to 9 at St. John's Episcopal Church.

This first session will cover a history of the hospice program by Rita C. Cobbs, executive director of the new organization. Frances F. Barton is its president.

The Rev. Ken Carraway, who has ministered to hospice families for many years, also will speak.

The hospice program started years ago to help families with a loved one going through a terminal illness. The Wythe-Bland Hospice was started in September and incorporated in February.

Training now is starting with the goal of having active services available no later than June.

People who want to join the volunteers or support the agency in other ways should call the organization at 228-5424, Cobbs at 686-5031 or Barton at 228-3244.
