IN SPORTS - PREPS

In Daleville, Chuck Morris scored 19 points as Covington rolled past Parry McCluer 61-49 in a Pioneer District boys' basketball semifinal Saturday night.

The Cougars led 15-8 in the first quarter and held the Fighting Blues scoreless in the second quarter until 2:34 was left in the half. Covington led 30-20 at halftime.

The Cougars went on a 6-0 run early in the third quarter but Parry McCluer (14-7) battled back. Covington (14-8) went on a 10-0 run in the fourth quarter to widen their lead for the win. The Cougars will play Bath County for the championship tonight at 6:30. \
