OBIT ELLISON, NANCY GIVENS
ELLISON, Nancy Givens, 79, of Jacksonville, Fla., died Wednesday, February
24, 1993. Miss Ellison was born in Blacksburg, Va., lived in Roanoke, and
moved to Jacksonville, Fla., in the mid-1940's. She was a member of Riverside
Presbyterian Church, and was retired from the Social Security Administration.
She was an active member of the Jacksonville Watercolor Society, and was
involved in the Jacksonville Art Museum since its earliest days. She was a
member of the Cummer Gallery of Art and a member and past-president of
Ingleside Circle of the Jacksonville Garden Club. She attended Hollins College
as well as art schools in Baltimore and Washington. Surviving are one sister,
Mrs. James M. (Martha) Hess, Roanoke; two nieces, Nancy Thomas Taylor, Mary
Grace Earhart, both of Atlanta; and two nephews, Ellison Thomas, Atlanta,
Claudius Pritchard, Summerville, S.C. A graveside service will be conducted 1
p.m. Monday, March 1, 1993, in Evergreen Burial Park, Roanoke, with the Rev.
John Wesley Newman officiating. A memorial service will be conducted 1:30 p.m.
Wednesday, March 3, 1993, at Riverside Presbyterian church, Jacksonville, Fla.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to Riverside
Presbyterian Church, Cummer Gallery of Art or to the Jacksonville Art Museum.
