BULLDOGS WIN PIEDMONT

Senior guard Maurice Spencer scored 29 points as Martinsville defeated Tunstall 71-61 on Monday to claim the Piedmont District boys' basketball tournament title.

Vincent Eggleston added 19 points and Mike Martin 13 for the Bulldogs (19-4), who play William Byrd on Wednesday at 8 p.m. in the first round of the Region III tournament at Liberty University in Lynchburg.

Tunstall trailed only 37-34 at halftime, but Martinsville took advantage of turnovers in the third quarter to outscore the Trojans 14-9.

Tunstall (14-10) was led by Khris Law with 18 points and Hubert Adkins and Chris Walton with 11 points each. \
