CAVS, GOVS IN FINAL

Ryan Gilleland scored 26 points, including six 3-pointers that helped Jefferson Forest defeat Amherst County 60-55 on Monday night in the semifinals of the Seminole District boys' basketball tournament.

The Cavaliers (14-8) will meet Nelson County, a 42-40 overtime winner over Brookville, in the championship tonight at 7:30 at the Vines Center.

Jefferson Forest trailed by three points after the first quarter, but outscored the Lancers 20-13 in the second quarter to take a 29-25 halftime lead. Gilleland scored eight of the Cavaliers' points in the quarter.

Larry Massie scored 21 points and Justin Johannes 12 for Amherst County (18-4), but the Lancers couldn't catch up. \

Nelson County 42, Brookville 40: Center Dan Revely scored both of the Governors' baskets in the overtime as Nelson County advanced to the Seminole District championship with a semifinal victory over the Bees.

Dan Revely finished with 9 points and Tyrone Revely added 10 for Nelson County (18-4). Brookville (15-7) was paced by Jon Scott with 11 points.
