The Blacksburg High swim team set 13 school records during the just-concluded 1992-93 season.

Ten of the records came from the boys' team, which went 4-2 in dual meet competition, finished third at the Pulaski Invitational and seventh at the Lynchburg Invitational.

Robert Susil set six of the records - 500-meter freestyle (4 minutes, 47.04 seconds), 200 freestyle (1:49.46), 100 freestyle (50.92), 50 freestyle (23.49), 100 butterfly (54.52) and 100 backstroke (58.95).

Brad Hicks set a record in the boys' 100 breast stroke (1:05.84).

Susil, Hicks, Jason Scott and Whit Hughston combined for three relay race records - 200 freestyle (1:35.92), 400 freestyle (3:31.54) and 200 medley (1:48.46).

At the state invitational, Susil finished third in the 100 butterfly and eight in the 200 freestyle, Hughston placed 12th in the individual medley, and the relay team came in 12th in the 200 freestyle and 10th in the 400 freestyle.

The girls' team went 3-3 in dual meets and finished fourth at both invitationals.

It also set three team records: Sarah Clements in the 100 freestyle (57.94), Jacqui McLaughlin in the 100 backstroke (1:04.10) and Clements, McLaughlin, Liz Hager and Christie Fraraccio in the 200 freestyle relay (1:48.67).

McLaughlin also placed at the state invitational, finishing ninth in the 100 backstroke.
