In Jacksonville, Fla., Scott David pitched Ferrum to an 8-0 victory over Tusculum (2-5). David pitched seven innings, striking out six, walking two and giving up two hits. The Panthers, who had 10 hits, scored three in the fourth and four in the fifth. Brothers Jerold Smith and Jeff Smith of King George, Va., each doubled, and Jerold Smith hit a solo home run in the fifth inning. Ferrum (2-1) concludes its season-opening, four-game stand with a game against Concordia (N.Y.) today. The Panthers' home opener is Saturday against Maryville (Tenn.) at 1 p.m.; junior left-hander Billy Wagner will start.\ VMI's Ryan Glynn singled home two runs in the first inning and the Keydets held off a late Washington and Lee rally for a 4-2 win over the Generals, who were playing their college season opener at VMI's Patchin Field in Lexington.
