PHAR-MOR EXECUTIVE PLEADS GUILTY
Patrick B. Finn, 34, the former chief financial officer of the Phar-Mor Inc. drugstore chain, pleaded guilty Tuesday to 14 counts of money laundering and fraud for his part in a $1 billion embezzlement scheme.A plea agreement calls for Finn to testify against Phar-Mor co-founder and former President Michael Monus, who is accused of masterminding the scheme. Finn also will serve from 33 to 41 months in prison.
Phar-Mor last August estimated its losses from the scheme at $350 million. Last month, the company increased its estimate of the loss to $499 million.
Monus, indicted on 129 counts, has said he expects to be cleared. If convicted on all charges, he could be given life in prison and fined more than $38 million.
