OBIT PERKINS, REBA JEFFCOAT

PERKINS, Reba Jeffcoat, 80, of Roanoke, died Tuesday, March 2, 1993. Formerly from Hampton, Va., she was a school teacher at Tabb and Hampton High Schools and a charter member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Some of her fondest memories were of her teen years spent in Boone, N.C. with her grandfather, the Reverend Jeffcoat and her aunt Cora Pearl Jeffcoat. She was a graduate of Lenoir Rhyne College and attended the Mother House in Baltimore, Md. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Lutheran Church Women, and the American Business Women's Association. She was the widow of Glenn Wilson Perkins and was survived by her two daughters, Sandra Perkins Fortner and her husband, Michael Thomas Fortner Sr., Rocky Mount, and Anita Perkins Casey and her husband, Jerome Claire Casey, Fayetteville, N.C. She was also survived by five grandchildren, Allison Fortner Moser and her husband, James Dexter Moser, Boone, N.C., Michael Thomas Fortner Jr. and his wife, Shawn O'Neal Fortner, Roanoke, Va., Chan Edward Casey, New York, N.Y., Brett Thomas Casey and Carrie Lynn Casey, both of Fayetteville, N.C.; one great-grandchild, Jessica Megan Fortner, two sisters, Clarice Jeffcoat Deal, Raleigh, N.C. and Elizabeth Jeffcoat Jones, Burlington, N.C.; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Jeffcoat, Columbia, S.C., Evelyn Jeffcoat, Winchester, Va., Sarah Jeffcoat, Burlington, N.C. and Joy Jeffcoat, Boone, N.C.; two brothers-in-law, Macon Jones and Manley Meachem, both of Burlington, N.C.; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Funeral services will be held at St. John Lutheran Church in Roanoke, Va., Thursday, March 4, 1993 at 1 p.m. A service will also be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hampton, Friday, March 5, 1993 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Park Lawn Cemetery in Hampton, Va. The family will be receiving guests Wednesday, March 3, 1993 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Oakey's North Chapel on Peters Creek Road, Roanoke, Va. and on Friday March 5, 1993 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hampton, Va., at 10 a.m. prior to the service.
