TAZEWELL MAN GIVEN 10 YEARS FOR GUN THEFTS

A Tazewell County man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for stealing firearms from a Wythe County home.

Jimmy A. Murry, 49, of Doran, was convicted of grand larceny and breaking and entering. He was sentenced Tuesday to 15 years on the first charge and five on the second.

He and another Tazewell County man, Fred Blankenship, were arrested after eight shotguns and several rifles valued at more than $2,000 were stolen from a home in the Mount Olive Branch section of Wythe County in July.

The weapons were found in the possession of the pair when they were arrested. Blankenship earlier drew a suspended 10-year sentence for his part in the theft.
