OBIT CURRY, JOHN J. SR.

CURRY, John J. Sr., 74, of Alexandria, died Tuesday night, March 2, 1993 in Montgomery Regional Hospital, Blacksburg, after an extended illness. He had been a resident of the Skyline Manor Nursing Home in Floyd, Va. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the 7th Field Artillery Observation Battalion. He attended Clemson College and the American School of Law. Mr. Curry was a retired employee of the U.S. Department of State, Washington, D.C., after serving as Chief Adjudicator, Passport Office, having retired from the U.S. Foreign Service in 1972. He was a member of the Old Presbyterian Meeting House in Alexandria, the Mt. Vernon Country Club and the Diplomatic and Consular Officers Retired Club. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Sutherland Curry. He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, John J. Jr. and Martha Lewis Curry; two granddaughters, Mary Christina Curry and Anne Elizabeth Curry, all of Christiansburg. The body will be sent from Richardson-Horne Funeral Home, Christiansburg, to the McDougald Funeral Home, Anderson, S.C. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at the graveside in the New Silverbrook Cemetery, Anderson. The family will receive friends Thursday evening at the McDougald Funeral Home. Flowers may be sent to the McDougald Funeral Home or memorials may be made to the Christiansburg Rescue Squad, Box 176, Christiansburg, Va. 24073.
