E&H SENIOR IS NAMED TO `93 ACADEMIC TEAM

David Farmer of Abingdon, an Emory & Henry College senior, is the only Virginian named to the 1993 USA Today College Academic Team.

A total of 133 students were named from more than 1,300 nominees, and 73 - including Farmer - for honorable mention status. USA Today names a team annually to honor students who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievements and creativity.

To enter, Farmer had to describe an experience from college showing creativity and energy in academic and intellectual pursuits. He told of his work as an intern with the Roanoke Times & World-News during the U.S. presidential campaign. - Southwest bureau
