Apartment religionA conference on bringing the Christian Gospel to residents of multifamily housing is scheduled March 29 at 7:30 p.m. at Colonial Avenue Baptist Church, Virginia 419 at Colonial Avenue Southwest. Sponsored by the Roanoke Valley Association of Southern Baptists, it is open to any church leaders with an interest in contemporary evangelism.
Speaker will be the Rev. Dr. Bob Perry of Alexandria. He is director of missions for the Mount Vernon Baptist Association and the author of several books on reaching the estimated 90 percent of apartment, public housing and dormitories residents who are not active in a church. \ God in Christ to meet
Members of Churches of God in Christ throughout Virginia's Second Jurisdiction will gather Monday through March 14 in Roanoke. Morning Bible studies and services will begin daily at 10 and 7:30 at Holiness Tabernacle Church of God in Christ, 1130 Melrose Ave. N.W.
The closing services on March 13-14 will be in the Roanoke Civic Center Auditorium starting at 7:30 with several thousand expected. Timothy Wright and Yolanda Adams will be song leaders for the March 13 service devoted to music. The following morning Sunday school at 9:30 will also be held at the civic center with the major service at noon. Leading the programs will be Bishop Samuel L. Green, Mary M. Featherston and Mary M. Powell representing the jurisdiction. Their theme will be "Making the Promises of God Relevant Now."
\ Jews' role at UVa
An exhibit on the role Jews have played in the development of the University of Virginia is on display through March in Newcomb Hall of the Charlottesville school. It commemorates the 250th birthday of founder Thomas Jefferson and his commitment to religious freedom.
