VIRGINIA WESTERN MAKES TITLE GAME
Keith Tinnell pumped in 29 points and Virginia Western overcame a 16-point deficit Saturday to beat Southwest Virginia 85-76 in the semifinals of the Virginia Community College state invitational tournament at James Madison Junior High School.The Blue Stars (10-8) advanced to the championship game today at noon against Northern Virginia-Woodbridge, a winner over Alexandria in the other semifinal.
Chris Byington added 24 points for Virginia Western, which trailed by 16 points in the first half before taking control in the final seven minutes. Southwest Virginia got 19 points from Tony Pugh and 18 from John Griffith.
