OBIT SAUNDERS, JOHN EDGAR ("JACK")

SAUNDERS, John Edgar ("Jack"), 75, of Thaxton, died Saturday, March 6, 1993 in the Community Hospital of Roanoke Valley. He was born October 29, 1917 in Bedford County, a son of the late Hollie Saunders and Carrie Wheeler Saunders. He was a retired employee of Burlington Mills. He is survived by his wife, Myrtle Brown Saunders; a son, Jimmy L. Saunders, Bedford; a daughter and son-in-law, Nadine S. and Bill Harris, Vinton; three sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Hudson, Mrs. Ellen Brown, both of Vinton, Mrs. Hazel Stevens, Moneta; two brothers, Hubert Saunders, Haywood Saunders, both of Vinton; two granddaughters and husband, Ginger and Randy Johnson, Kelley Cherie Harris. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, March 8, 1993 at 11 a.m. from the Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford by the Rev. Karen Adams and Rev. Edward West. Interment will follow in the Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Updike Funeral Home, Bedford.
